Game 11 The Illinois Fighting Illini

Well team, we have made it to the end of the season. One more game, and be sure to dress warm as the forecast is showing a colder week than last week. For those who have been a part of the tailgate you know what the last game means right? It is time for the annual Chili Cook Off! So bring your best chili to share with the group and you will not have to contribute for the main course this week. Be sure to add in what kind of chili you are making to the comment on the signup. And if you do bring chili, no need to pay in for the main course OR make a side or dessert (unless you want to). There are always questions on how to get your chili to the tailgate. The easiest option is to bring it in a ziplock bag (or double bagged) or container and we can heat it up on the stove. We will have crockpots at the tailgate with liners to change out between chilis. Crockpots are always an option, but transport can often be a chore.

No time to make chili just signup like normal and don’t forget your side or dessert. Not sure what to make? We added a signup item for cornbread since it goes well with chili. Or check out this article for some ideas on what to bring https://thekitchencommunity.org/what-to-serve-with-chili/ that might work. Things have been amazing the past few games with tons of options to share and very little food remaining at the end of the night. Go Team!

As always, the contribution covers the chili fixings and sodapop and water along with other supplies and misc. tailgate items. Also know that your contribution helps toward things like propane for the grills and heaters that we will likely need this week since the weather will be a bit chilly during the game for those who stay out at the tailgate. We are working to replace at least one of the large tents before it falls over at the end of the year. With the supply chain issues, the new tents are now quite expensive.

Sign up if you would like to take part in the Atwater beer from Detroit and the hard seller from War Water brewery in St. Clair. You will see other items to sign up for if that makes your side/dessert contribution easier, especially for those coming from out of town.

Signup for the Illinois Tailgate right away. Don’t be like the group who signed up at 11:30 last Saturday morning. Yep, that really happened.

Go Blue!
